Ms Fiona Mitchelhill - Clincal Research Fellow, Robert Gordon University

Fiona has been seconded from NHS Grampian to take up a part time position as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Alliance for Self Care. She retains a part time clinical post in the Accident and Emergency Department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, as a Staff Nurse.

Research interests

Fiona’s research interests are around how nursing and medical professionals can support self care and self management in people who attend the A&E department, principally with individuals who deliberate self harm.  Fiona is also interested in the effect trauma has on partners of victims.

Previous Positions Held

1999 - to date: Staff Nurse - Accident & Emergency Department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

1997 – 1998: Registered Nurse – Agency work in various hospitals in Perth and Melbourne, Australia.

1995 -  1997: Staff Nurse – General Medical Ward, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, During this time I undertook a 6-month change of experience and work in the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Voluntary Research Work

2004 – 2005: Research Nurse – Aberdeen Centre for Trauma Research.
