Lesley Fleming - Clinical Research Fellow

Lesley has been seconded from Forth Valley Health Board to take up a part time position as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Alliance for Self Care.  She retains a part time clinical post in the Area Rehabilitation Team as a Senior Occupational Therapist working with people recovering from stroke in the community.

Research interests

Lesley’s research interests are around how Allied Health Professionals can support self care and self management in a rehabilitation context, principally with individuals recovering from stroke.  Of particular interest is the use of goal setting as an intervention to promote self management.

2004 – 2005:  Senior 1 Occupational Therapist - Area Rehabilitation Team, Forth Valley Acute Care NHS Trust.  Clinical focus on the community rehabilitation of individuals recovering from stroke

2002 – 2004: Senior 1 Occupational Therapist - Stroke Unit at Falkirk Royal Infirmary, Forth Valley Acute Care NHS Trust.  Clinical focus on the hospital based rehabilitation of individuals recovering from stroke.  

1999 – 200: Senior 1 Occupational Therapist - Royal Scottish National Hospital.  Clinical focus on habilitation of people with a learning disability

1995 – 1999:  Senior Occupational Therapist - Ravenswood Hospital, Chicago USA.  Clinical focus on in patient rehabilitation of people with a variety of physical disabilities.
