I started as Clinical Research Fellow, Alliance for Self-care Research based at Dundee University in April 2006 I have worked as a senior physiotherapist in stroke rehabilitation in Ninewells Hospital Dundee until January 2002, when I was promoted to the role of Professional Development Lead for Allied Health Professions in Tayside, a role involving development of a training programme for support workers, clinical governance and supporting staff in their continuing professional development. In August 2002, I was successful in obtaining a CSO grant to investigate an upper limb intervention for acute stroke, and acted part-time as lead researcher on that project until its completion in March 2006. I am currently writing that project up for publication and will use the work as part of my PhD. Research Interests: My research interests to date include upper limb recovery in stroke and monitoring and facilitating physical activity levels in patients in the chronic stage of stroke. I am currently working on a proposal to investigate the validity of an accelerometer designed to measure activity levels in stroke Qualifications: I qualified in 1984 from Queen’s College Glasgow with a Diploma in Physiotherapy with merit and distinction, and completed an MSc in Physiotherapy in 2003 with distinction from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh. I started work on my PhD in January 2006, investigating effectiveness of bilateral simultaneous upper limb task training in acute stroke | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
