2.  Promoting health and preventing complications through exercise.

The US based prospective national survey study includes a sample of n=620 individuals with spinal cord injury. The project is carried out under subcontract and in collaboration with the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC. Its aims are to examine predictors of physical activity and exercise as well as of secondary conditions among community-dwelling people with SCI.

3.  The use, role and application of advanced technologies in the lives of disabled people.

The interdisciplinary study is a multi-phase, multi-methodological study that examines how people with various disabilities residing in Scotland and England use technology in their homes. It explores their experiences, preferences and seeks to inform design and engineering discussions and considerations.

4.  Barriers to accessing and utilising universal health care services among women with domestic abuse experiences.

The study aims at understanding the barriers which women who have experienced domestic abuse and who reside in sheltered accommodation face when accessing health care services. The project uses in-depth interviews, focus groups and concept mapping with women and service providers to identify service gaps and care priorities within the context of NHS Fife.

5.  Understanding the challenges in accessing universal health care services fo rchildren living with dometic abuse experiences.

This study uses a multi-method approach to examine the barriers and facilitators of health care access for children who have experienced domestic abuse in their families. Women and health care professionals participate in semi-structured interviews. Field work is complemented by a structured literature review.

6.  Patient experience "Better Together"

The contract programme is funded by NHS Scotland and led by Professor James Law at Queen Margaret University. The project brings together two consortia, the Centre for Integrated Healthcare Research and the Alliance for Self Care Research and focuses on patient experience under the NHS “Better Together Framework”
